How "The Kids Are Alright" Is Like "The Room"
Both movies feature a scene in which two characters show up, without any introduction, and proceed to give really specific relationship advice to the main characters. And then they never appear again. Mark Ruffalo, you’re tearing me (and my unconventional sperm donated family) apart! Also, I think Laser, their son, has a best friend named Chris-R.

Louise: Vicariously excited for your descent into madness today
Sean: It's like black swan only we will be eating constantly and doing very little ballet
Sean: Bad omen; Toy Story 3 is the first movie, and it's all about people being trapped.

The Best Picture Marathon
In a few short hours, I will be heading to Emeryville for AMC’s 24-Hour Best Picture Marathon. I’ll be joined by Joey Devine, the comedian, not the oft-injured Oakland athletics reliever. Watching ten movies in a row is the only kind of marathon either one of us can complete. I am still considering getting one of those special shirts that keep your nipples from bleeding. My toenails...

CMT Programming Ideas
I know I’m just competing to be the Next Big Comic, but I have some show ideas that I think could really revitalize CMT: “Country For Old Men”: Ten men, aged 55 and over, compete to become CMT’s next big country music sensation. Winners get a record contract, plus two million dollars in a dirty satchel recovered from a drug deal gone bad. Fan voting eliminates one...

The Very First Celebrity All-Star Game
sportscentr: The Very First Celebrity All-Star Game nbaoffseason: In all the excitement about tonight’s Celebrity All-Star Game, it’s important to remember our history.  The first-ever Celebrity Game took place in 2004 - also in Los Angeles - and featured a coaching matchup between P. Diddy/Paris Hilton and Ashton Kutcher/Lisa Leslie. It was quite a contest. For some reason, actual NBA...

My Father and the CMT Contest
I told my dad about the “Next Big Comic” contest last night, as he is not on Facebook and has to get important country music/comedy related news over the phone. He said he’d visit the site “but I’m only going to vote once. Maybe twice.” Even when I told him that you can vote as many times as you want (and so can you!), he seemed reluctant to commit to more than...

Chris Rock Talks About LeBron James, and Stand-Up... →
Rock kills it on the LeBron issue, which boils down to: Cleveland is freezing, Miami is warm. LeBron James is disloyal to his city, but loyal to his family and friends, who all live in Miami now anyway. Cleveland should have traded him while they could, and if not, never let him talk to Pat Riley. He has some interesting things to say about stand-up, and why, despite his movies and TV shows,...

Witch Ends Cavaliers Losing Streak →
Was it the return of Mo Williams that got the Cavs back on track? Was it Byron Scott’s locker room tirade? Maybe it was getting to play an NBA team that starts Ryan Gomes in 2011? No. It was the curse-breaking efforts of a local witch in Cleveland. The Wizards have enlisted a shaman to help break their road losing streak, so Sunday’s game should be a doozy!

Your CMT Update For February 10th
My new favorite cable network (and future employer) has another exciting lineup of shows tonight. After the daily double dose of Dukes (you can use that one, CMT marketing department!) from 7-9, they are showing Pure Country, which is George Strait’s first starring vehicle. He plays country music star Dusty Chandler, who walks away from his successful live show and touring career, in search...

Jeff Speakman's Wikipedia Page, By the Numbers
I crunched the numbers on Jeff Speakman’s Wikipedia page. Here’s how the Perfect Weapon’s page breaks down, statistically: References cited in article: 4 Places where it says “citation needed: 5 Titles listed in Speakman’s filmography: 18 Titles listed in Speakman’s filmography that have their own Wikipedia page: 8 Speakman titles with their own Wikipedia...

Rules for the Super Bowl Newbie
You have an hour to review, football newbies.
