Bobbing for apples
The Halloween party I attended had a large bucket set up for apple-bobbing. It wasn’t especially popular. This might have stemmed from guests’ general unwillingness to soak their makeup-clad faces. Or, it might be that it is no longer the 19th century, and thus an apple no longer qualifies as a treat. Instead, it’s something people eat primarily to counterbalance their overindulgence in treats, closer to “jogging” than “candy” in people’s perceptions.
