“Last Comic Standing” is a weird show. It’s the most prominent showcase for standup comedy on network TV, but it makes standup look amazingly unfunny. Part of the problem is that auditions are held in an empty comedy club, with only the judges present, so even the best jokes are met with silence. They could do these shows with a real audience, but that might distract from their parade of hilariously bad comics wearing costumes and silly outfits. The producers intentionally recruit “wacky” acts, because they figure, American Idol squeezes eight episodes out of terrible auditions every season, why can’t they?
Anyway, Jacob Sirof is a funny dude who didn’t advance, but he did get some network television exposure, during he which he mentions Aurabesh, the Star Wars language, twice. You can see Jacob in front of an actual audience in the following clip:
