“Five and a half years” in a POW camp is John McCain’s response for everything:
- John McCain doesn’t know how many houses he has: “This is a guy who lived in one house for five and a half years — in prison.”
- John McCain wasn’t in a “cone of silence” for his Saddleback Church appearance: “The insinuation from the Obama campaign that John McCain, a former prisoner of war, cheated is outrageous.”
It’s an all-purpose excuse for any scandal whatsoever. In the future, I’m waiting to hear these justifications:
- John McCain called his wife a cunt: “John McCain was called worse than that during his five and a half years in a POW camp.
- John McCain is too old to be president: “Yes, McCain is 72 years old - but five and a half of those years were spent in a POW camp. So it’s really like he’s sixty six and a half.”
- John McCain was part of the Keating Five: “Keating Five? I’m sorry, I’m more concerned with the McCain Five And A Half. That’s the number of years McCain was in a POW camp, by the way.”
- John McCain thinks America could be in Iraq for a hundred years: “So far, the war in Iraq has lasted five and a half years. Does that number sound familiar to anyone?”
- John McCain is anti-gay because of his opposition to gay marriage: “John McCain is no homophobe. After all, he spent five and a half years in a POW camp and when men start to take on certain responsibilities for each other, you know, things happen.”
